A PLACE AS UNIQUE AS YOU.Men’s Shed is an international phenomenon with thousands of clubs worldwide. We answer men’s innate need for activity. Men’s Shed is a club, mainly for older guys. We have tools, and materials for pursuing our interests and passions, for learning something new and sharing skills. We join to make stuff and tinker. We share a pot of coffee in a friendly atmosphere. In the end, we make friends and enjoy life.
The key to our popularity is best expressed in our motto: Men don’t talk face to face, we talk SHOULDER TO SHOULDER. |
Men’s Sheds can also be She Sheds
You may decide to host special She Shed Maker’s Days during the week, host family BBQs and outings, or work together building community gardens. Your Shed may decide to always be open to the entire community, regardless of gender or age. Your own local members will decide on the projects and policies for their own Shed. Important Historical Note: Woman have often been the Founders of successful local Sheds. Their ability to get Sheds launched and their dedication to helping men find meaning and purpose - especially after retirement - is an inspiring part of the US movement’s growth. This same dedication is also evident in the worldwide movement. Women understand that they have many options for socialization as they age, but men have very few. The US Men’s Shed movement recognizes the important role women have had in Shed Leadership/Volunteerism across the US.

Activities
Men’s Shed provides a variety of interesting and healthy activities in a safe and accepting environment that the Members choose for themselves. These activities can include building things for themselves and others, doing community service projects, or other volunteer opportunities.
ACTIVEMen’s Shed activities are as unique

SOCIALMen’s Shed is inclusive as a venue to provide recreation and education for men and their families. The goal is simple, “I feel better about myself” is the most common shared statement we hear by those that join Men’s Shed. Find a Shed near you to start.

COMMUNITYMen’s Shed Members work on many projects benefiting their local community. This can range from grade school tutoring sessions or community serve days. The pride exhibited by these men, working ‘shoulder to shoulder’, is evident as each project nears completion.
